The console, organized around your day

Running a co-op is mostly small jobs at the wrong moment. A parent at the door asks who is teaching Room 2. A dues payment fails on a Tuesday. A new teacher starts next week and has no Famlo account yet.

The console is built for that. It opens on what is happening today, keeps everything else in a short list of places, and lets you share the work without handing everyone the keys.

A short list of places

The left side of your console is a list of places, each named for a part of your week: Today, Schedule, Classes, Services, People, Messages, Store, Money, Website and Testimonials, with Local insights and School settings at the foot.

Each place shows only if you can use it. A teacher sees Today and the messages about their own classes, not the money. A bookkeeper sees Money, not the class list. Nobody has to click into a page only to be told they are not allowed in.

A search field sits at the top of the console. It finds children, families, classes and people in your organization, and ⌘K on a Mac (Ctrl+K elsewhere) jumps straight to it. On a phone, a tab bar along the bottom holds Today, Schedule, Classes and People, with everything else under More.

Today: now, next, and what needs you

Today is where the console opens. For the people running the school, it shows the class happening Now, the one coming up Next, and a Needs you list: failed dues payments, classes with no teacher, invitations nobody has accepted. Each row has one button that does the job, such as Review, Assign or Resend. Below that, the whole day is laid out on one timeline, by place.

A new organization also gets a Get ready checklist on Today, with steps such as adding your first class, setting this semester's dates and bringing your families in. Only owners and co-leaders see it, and Skip setup hides it if you would rather find your own way.

People, in one place

People holds everyone connected to your organization, in tabs: Parents, Kids, Staff & teachers, Requests & invites (join requests and invitations together) and Mailing list.

Adding a teacher does not have to wait for an email address. Add a teacher or staff member needs only a name, so you can put Maya on the schedule today. When she is ready, connect her account: send an invitation to her email, or find her if she already uses Famlo. She confirms, and the profile becomes hers.

Decide what each person can do

Access is set area by area: classes, attendance, families and children, messages, money, the website, staff, and school settings. Start from a preset and adjust any line you like:

PresetIn short
Co-leaderRuns the school with you: classes, families, messages, the website, settings and the Famlo plan. Not money.
Class organizerEvery class and every register, and the families in them.
TeacherTheir own classes: the register, the children, and messages with those families.
Front deskChecks every child in and out, and can look families up.
BookkeeperMoney: dues, payments, refunds and recording cash. Can see the Famlo plan, not change it.
Profile onlyOn your Staff page, with no access to anything.

You can also make someone an Owner, and there can be more than one, so the school does not depend on a single login. Payouts and closing the listing stay with the person who created or claimed it, who can hand them to an Owner or Co-leader from School settings › Danger zone.

One inbox for the whole team

Messages is a shared inbox for every conversation families start with your organization. Filter it by All, Waiting (families who are waiting on an answer) or By class, and whoever on your team can help picks it up. A teacher set to see only their classes sees only those conversations.

The console's Messages place: the list of places on the left, the team inbox with All, Waiting and By class filters, a conversation with a parent, and the Announce buttonThe console's Messages place: the list of places on the left, the team inbox with All, Waiting and By class filters, a conversation with a parent, and the Announce button

When something is for everyone, Announce opens Announce to everyone. Send it to Members of this organization, Everyone registered for any activity, or Both, and each person gets it once.

Your data, as a spreadsheet

When you need a list on paper or in another tool, export it as a CSV: your families from People, the money ledger from Money, registrations from Classes, and a class's roster and attendance from the class itself. Your mailing list exports too.

Getting started

Nothing to switch on. Open your organization from the avatar menu with Manage organizations and you land on Today.

A good first step is your team. Add the people who teach or help, choose what each of them can do, and decide who answers messages.
