Drop-ins, packs, payment plans, programs and sections
Not every family can commit to a whole term. Some can come on Tuesdays but not Thursdays. Some want to try a class twice before they sign up. Some would rather spread $380 over three months than pay it in September.
A class on Famlo can now offer all of that at once. You set the ways families can join, and each family picks the one that fits.
More than one way into the same class
In the class editor, Price & spots starts with the whole-term price. Under it, + Add another way to join offers up to six more, depending on how the class meets:
- Single dates: families pick the meetings they come to. It is also how a family who finds you mid-term signs up for what is left. If you would rather keep room for whole-term families, choose Protect the term and hold some spots on every date.
- Pack of visits: a family prepays a set number of visits and uses them any week until the class ends. One pack covers any of the family's children, and a visit canceled in time goes back into the pack.
- Payment plan: the term price split into 2 to 6 monthly payments, by card. The first is taken when the family signs up, and every payment finishes before the last class.
- Monthly: the class billed each month until it ends. A family who leaves stops paying.
- Members price: a lower price only your members see. Families who aren't members never see it.
- Free (RSVP): no payment, but the spot still counts toward your limit and your attendance.
Every way to join shares the same spots, so whole-term children and drop-ins are added together. Famlo stops taking bookings at the number you set.
Two more pricing options sit alongside these. Family rates take something off for a second or third child in the same order, applied automatically, so families never have to ask. And a price can be set Per hour, so families choose how many hours they want at checkout.
Sections: one class, several groups
A class that runs for two age groups, on two days, or in two places doesn't have to be listed twice. Open When in the editor and choose Add a section. Each section can have its own ages, teacher, days, place, spots and price. Extras, refund terms and questions stay with the class, so you set them once.
Families see one listing. At checkout each child is matched to the section that fits their age, and siblings can sit in different sections in the same order.
Programs: families choose their days
Some programs are not a term at all. Families come two days a week, or three, and stay until they give notice. A Program is built for that.
You set a month's tuition for each number of days, the days you offer, an optional registration fee, and how much notice a family gives to leave. Each day has its own spots and roster.
Families tick the days each child will come and enroll with a saved card. They are billed on the 1st of each month. From Account settings › Memberships they can Change days or Give notice, and the page shows exactly when the last day and the last payment fall.
Plan the term in one place
The class editor got easier to start, too. New class asks how you want to begin: Copy a class you've run, which moves the dates to next term and brings the price, photo, description and rules with it, or one of five shapes: Weekly class, Camp, One day, Drop-in program or Program.
Each class can carry a week-by-week plan of what you will do and what to bring. Turn on Show this on the listing if you want them to see it, and use Copy from last term when the class has run before. If you move a date, its plan moves with it.
When a class already has bookings, saving opens Review changes first. It lists what is changing, such as a date, the time, the place or the teacher, and what families will hear about it. For a moved date, families who can't come choose a credit or a refund for that day. Add a note if you like, then press Save and tell N families, and one message goes to everyone booked. A new price only applies to new families: anyone already booked keeps what they paid.
For families: one checkout for every child
You can register several children in one checkout. Add each child as an attendee with + Add another attendee. Each child gets their own section, their own way to join and their own questions. Then, under Who pays for each spot?, choose who pays for each child: you, by card today, or your scholarship program if the organization accepts it.
If the class offers it, you can pay the term in monthly payments, buy a single date, or use a visit from a pack you already hold. Packs you have bought appear under Account settings › Packs, with the visits left and what happened to the rest.
Getting started
If you run an organization, open a class from Classes, edit it, and look under Price & spots. A class keeps the prices it has until you add a new way to join.
- Prices, spots and ways to join
- Split a class into sections
- Programs: families choose days, billed monthly
- Create and publish a class
If you are a family, there is nothing to set up. The options a class offers appear on its page and at checkout.
