Blocked Users
Blocking a user prevents them from interacting with you on Homeschool Hive. This guide explains how to block someone, what blocking does, and how to manage your blocked users list.
How to Block a User
You can block a user from a post in your group feed:
- Find a post by the user you want to block
- Tap the three-dot menu on the post
- Select Block User
- Review the confirmation dialog explaining what blocking does
- Click Block to confirm
A success message confirms the user has been blocked.
You cannot block yourself, and you cannot block the same user twice. If you attempt to block someone you have already blocked, you will see a notice that they are already blocked.
What Happens When You Block Someone
When you block a user:
- Their posts are hidden from your feed
- They cannot interact with your content -- no reactions, comments, or replies
- You will not see their comments on other people's posts
- They are not notified that you have blocked them
Blocking is a personal setting. It does not remove the blocked user from any groups or affect their interactions with other members. Group leaders have separate moderation tools for managing group membership.
View Your Blocked Users
To see everyone you have blocked:
- Click your profile icon in the top right corner
- Select Account Settings
- Click Blocked Users in the sidebar
The page displays a list of all users you have blocked, showing:
- Their name and profile photo
- When you blocked them (for example, "Blocked 3 days ago")
If you have not blocked anyone, you will see a message confirming your blocked list is empty.
Unblock a User
To unblock someone and restore normal interactions:
- Go to Account Settings > Blocked Users
- Find the user you want to unblock
- Click the Unblock button next to their name
- Confirm the action in the dialog that appears
Once unblocked:
- Their posts will appear in your feed again
- They can interact with your content as normal
- You will see their comments on other posts
Unblocking a user does not send them a notification. They will not know they were previously blocked.
Common Questions
Will the other person know I blocked them?
No. Blocked users are not notified when they are blocked or unblocked.
Does blocking remove them from my group?
No. Blocking is a personal visibility setting. If you are a group leader and need to remove someone from your group, use the group management tools instead. See Managing Members for details.
Can a blocked user still see my posts?
Blocking controls what you see, not what they see. If you need to prevent someone from viewing your content entirely, contact your group leader about removing them from the group.
What if I block someone by mistake?
You can unblock them at any time from the Blocked Users page in your account settings. There is no waiting period.
Does blocking carry across all groups?
Yes. When you block a user, the block applies across the entire platform, not just within a single group.
