Notifications

Go to Account settingsNotifications to choose how Famlo reaches you.

The page says it plainly at the top: "Choose how Famlo reaches you. Booking confirmations, refunds and other essential account emails are always sent."

What you can turn on and off

Four kinds of notification, each with its own two switches.

NotificationWhat it covers
Event remindersNudges about upcoming activities you're registered for
Activity updatesNew activities and freed-up spots from organizations you follow or saved
Messages & followersDirect messages from organizers, and new followers
Organization updatesRole changes and roster updates in organizations you belong to

Each row has two checkboxes: In-app and Email. Tick either, both, or neither.

  • In-app notifications appear on the bell in the top bar.
  • Email goes to the address on your account.

Change what you want, then select Save preferences. Nothing is saved until you do.

What you cannot turn off

Essential account mail is always sent, whatever your choices above: booking confirmations, refunds, and anything else you need in order to use something you paid for or joined.

This is deliberate. Turning off a booking confirmation would leave you with no record of a place you paid for.

Turning off email entirely

There is one switch that stops Famlo emailing you altogether. Use it if you would rather check the app yourself.

Essential account mail is the exception and still arrives.

Where notifications actually land

The bell in the top bar takes you straight to your Messages inbox, which is where everything gathers. There is no separate notifications page and no dropdown list.

note

Famlo does not send browser or phone push notifications. There are no quiet hours and no daily or weekly digest — a notification is either in the app, in your email, or both.

If notifications are not arriving

Nothing by email. Check that Email is ticked for that kind of notification and that you have not turned email off entirely. Then check your spam folder, and confirm the address under Personal information is one you still read.

Nothing in the app. Check that In-app is ticked for that kind. Remember that Activity updates only cover organizations you follow or activities you have saved — if you have not saved anything, there is nothing to report.

Too much email. Turn off Email for the kinds you do not need and leave In-app on, so it is waiting when you next open Famlo.
