RSVP to a free activity

Many free activities on Famlo book right on the activity page. Select RSVP, say how many are coming, and you're going. There's nothing to pay and no checkout. If you don't have a Famlo account yet, some free listings let you RSVP with just your email address.

RSVP in a few taps

This works when the activity is free, has no add-ons and has at most one ticket type.

  1. Open the activity and select RSVP.
  2. In How many are coming?, set the number of spots with − and +. You can also type the number.
  3. Select Confirm RSVP.

The booking card then says You're going, with how many spots you reserved. Your RSVP is on your calendar, and Famlo emails you a confirmation.

A few things to know:

  • How many you can reserve. When the organizer has set a number of places, the box shows how many you can choose, for example "of 20 spots left". One RSVP holds up to 30 spots, so that number never goes above 30.
  • When only one spot is left and the organizer asks nothing else, there's no box. Select RSVP and the spot is yours.
  • When it's full, the button changes to Join the waitlist. See Saved activities and the waitlist.
  • If you're already going, the card shows You're going instead of RSVP, so you can't book twice by mistake.

When the organizer asks questions first

Some organizers ask a few questions or ask you to agree to terms, such as a waiver, before you come. The box is then titled Before you RSVP. It shows Number of spots, the organizer's questions and their terms.

  1. Set the Number of spots.
  2. Answer the questions. Ones marked with * are required.
  3. Check the terms. If any term is required, sign with your full name, typed or drawn.
  4. Select Confirm RSVP.

Famlo keeps a copy of your answers and of exactly what you agreed to, with your booking.

If the organizer asks you to sign a waiver or agreement, RSVP takes you to checkout instead, where you read and sign it in a step titled Before you pay. Nothing is charged. See Signing waivers and agreements.

An RSVP is for your household, not a named child

A one-tap RSVP reserves a number of spots for your family. It doesn't ask which children are coming. That matters if the organizer uses QR code check-in: the check-in page lists only children named on a booking, so an RSVP's spots won't appear there. A leader can still sign your child in from their own attendance list. See Reminders and checking in on the day.

When a free activity goes to checkout instead

If a free activity has more than one ticket type, or add-ons, RSVP takes you to checkout so you can make those choices. You pick who's coming there, and the last button reads Complete free RSVP, with "Nothing is charged." underneath. For the steps, see Registering and checking out.

If a class has sections, choose a section on its page first. See Sections, single dates, packs and other ways to join.

Cancel an RSVP

  1. Open the activity.
  2. Under You're going, select Cancel RSVP.

It's canceled straight away, and the card goes back to RSVP. There's no refund screen, because nothing was paid. You can also cancel from Calendar: open the activity there, select Cancel registration, then Cancel booking. You can cancel until the activity starts. If your plans change again, you can RSVP again while spots are left.

RSVP without an account: Remind me the day before

On some free listings, signed-out visitors see Remind me the day before instead of Sign In to RSVP. You get:

  • an email reminder the day before;
  • the activity on your Famlo calendar, with everything else you've planned.

It's offered on free listings from organizations that haven't claimed their Famlo page yet, often libraries and museums whose events are listed on Famlo, as long as the listing asks no questions or terms and isn't full. Everywhere else, sign in first with Sign In to RSVP.

  1. Enter Your email (1).
  2. If the listing takes registration on the organizer's own site, check "I'll check with …" (2). See the next section.
  3. Select Remind me the day before (3). Famlo emails you a 6-digit code.
  4. On Check your email, enter the code and select Confirm and RSVP.

You're back on the activity page, signed in, with one spot booked (on a listing that takes registration elsewhere, the card says "1 spot on your calendar") and the message "You're going! We'll email you a reminder the day before."

  • New to Famlo? Confirming creates a free Famlo account for that email, with no password. You sign in with an emailed code. By selecting Confirm and RSVP, you confirm you're 18 or older, agree to Famlo's Terms of Service and acknowledge its Privacy Policy.
  • Already have an account? Use the same email, or select Log in. The code signs you in to your account and the RSVP goes there.
  • What should we call you? (optional) appears on the page afterwards. Type your first name and select Save, or skip it and add it later in Account settings.
  • Wrong address? Select Change email. If the code doesn't arrive, select Resend code.
  • On a phone, the button reads Remind me and opens a panel titled "Get a reminder for" the activity's name.

This way books one spot. If more of you are coming, cancel the RSVP and select RSVP again, now signed in, to choose the number.

For other ways to create an account and sign in, see Signing in and creating your account.

Activities that take registration somewhere else

Some listings come from organizations, often libraries, that keep their own sign-up list. The activity page says "[Organization] takes registration on their own site", usually with a Check availability at button that opens their site.

Your Famlo RSVP still saves the date on your calendar and sends your reminder, but it does not hold a spot. The organization never receives it. These programs often fill up well before the date, so check with them too.

  • Before you RSVP, you check "I'll check with [Organization] — Famlo can't hold my spot". Famlo won't take the RSVP without it.
  • After you RSVP, the card shows a second step, Get a place with [Organization]., with the Check availability at button. On a phone, the button reads Now get a place.
  • The confirmation email is titled "[Activity] is on your calendar" and includes the same link.
  • About a day later, if the activity hasn't started yet, Famlo emails you to ask "Do you have a place for [Activity]?", with a Check availability button.

There's never a booking fee on these listings.

Troubleshooting

I see Sign In to RSVP, not Remind me the day before. The email option is only on some free listings (see above). Select Sign In to RSVP, sign in or create your account, then open the activity again and select RSVP.

The RSVP button took me to checkout. The activity has a choice to make, such as a ticket type or an add-on. Complete the free checkout; nothing is charged.

It says "This one's full." The last spot went while you were choosing. Select Join the waitlist to hear when a spot opens.

I need more spots than the box allows. The box stops at the number of spots left, and at 30. For a bigger group, message the organizer.

My child isn't on the check-in page. An RSVP doesn't name a child. Ask a leader to sign your child in from their attendance list.
