Reminders and checking in on the day
Famlo reminds you the day before an activity you've booked, and again about an hour before it starts. For a weekly class you booked for the whole term, that happens before every meeting. At the door, some organizations put up a QR code so you can sign your child in when you drop off and out when you pick up.
Sign your child in with the QR code
The organization shows or prints a sign-in QR code for each meeting. You need to be signed in to Famlo; if you aren't, you're asked to log in first.
- Scan the code with your phone's camera and open the link. The page shows the class name and the date of the meeting.
- When you drop off, select Drop off and your child's name (1), for example Drop off Ella.
- When you pick up, select Pick up and your child's name on the same page.
If you're bringing more than one child, each one has their own card, so you sign each child in and out separately. The page says "Tap to sign each child in when you drop off, and out when you pick up."
Signing your child in and out doesn't send you a notification or an email. The card on the page is your record for the day.
What each card shows
| The card says | What it means | Below it |
|---|---|---|
| "Not signed in yet" | Nobody has signed this child in for this meeting. | Drop off and the child's name |
| "Dropped off at 9:02 AM by you", with a green Here badge | Your child is signed in. If a leader or another adult signed them in, their name appears instead of "you". | Pick up and the child's name |
| "Picked up at 12:05 PM by you" | Your child is signed out. | "All done for today" |
There's no undo on this page. If you tap the wrong child, tell a leader at the door.
Who appears on the check-in page
Only your own children, and only those who hold an active booking for that meeting, including a whole-term booking. A child appears only if the booking names them. A booking for yourself, or a free RSVP for a number of spots without names, doesn't put a child on the list, so choose each child when you register. See Registering and checking out.
If none of your children are booked for that meeting, the page says "Nobody in your family is registered for this meeting" and names the class and date the code is for. Check that you scanned the code for the right class and day. Check your registrations (1) opens your calendar's list of bookings, where you can see whether the booking is for a different date or didn't go through.
You don't need the QR code for your child to be counted. A leader can also sign your child in from their own attendance list, and the card then shows the leader's name.
The reminders Famlo sends
Reminders go to the Famlo account that made the booking. You get one of each for every date you're booked on: a weekly class booked for the term is reminded week by week, and each reminder names that week's date and time.
| When | How | What it says |
|---|---|---|
| About a day before | The subject is "Reminder:", the activity's name and the day, for example "Reminder: Watercolor Studio is Wednesday, October 21". It lists when and where, the join link for an online activity, and how many spots you booked, with a View activity button. | |
| About an hour before | A notice in Famlo, under Messages (the bell on a computer) | "Starting soon:" and the activity's name, with the start time and the place. In-person activities have a Directions button that opens the route in a maps app. This one is not emailed. |
If you book less than a day ahead, the day-before email arrives soon after you book. Appointments you book with a service get the same two reminders. See Booking a service or appointment.
Some dates aren't reminded:
- A date your booking leaves out, such as a meeting of a weekly class that was full when you joined for the term.
- An activity the organization has canceled doesn't get the hour-before notice.
Reminders from an organization's own website
Some organizations with their own website send the day-before reminder in their own name, and for in-person classes it can include the day's weather forecast. See Contacting an organization, and emails from its website.
Turn reminders off or on
Both reminders belong to the Event reminders category. To stop them, open Account settings › Notifications and turn off Event reminders. You can turn off the email and keep the notice in Famlo, or the other way round. See Notifications.
Turning reminders off doesn't affect your bookings or check-in.
Troubleshooting
I scanned the code but my child isn't listed. The booking may be for a different date, may not name your child, or may not have finished going through. Select Check your registrations to look, and ask a leader to sign your child in for today.
I didn't get a reminder email. Check that Event reminders is on for email in Account settings › Notifications, and look in your spam folder. A date your booking leaves out isn't reminded.
The Directions button is missing. It appears only for an in-person activity with an address. Online activities show "Online" instead.
