Sections, single dates, packs and other ways to join
Many classes offer more than one way to join: a section for each age group, one date at a time, a pack of visits, or a lower price for members or for a second child. The organization decides which ways a class offers. You choose on the activity page and again for each child at checkout. This page explains what each choice means and what happens after you book.
Sections: one class, split into groups
Some organizations split one class into sections, for example by age, day, place or teacher. Each section has its own dates, its own price and its own spots.
- On the activity page, the booking card has a Section dropdown. Pick one to see its dates, time, place and price. The note under it reads "Booking children of different ages? Each one is matched to their own section at checkout."
- At checkout, each attendee card has its own Section field. When you choose a child in Who's coming, Famlo picks the section that fits their age, and you can change it.
The Section field (1) shows the section chosen for your child. The note under the card (2) tells you why:
| Note | What it means |
|---|---|
| "The only section for Max's age." | One section fits, and your child is in it. |
| "2 sections fit Max's age. Also for them: …" | More than one fits. Switch the Section field if you prefer another. |
| "No section fits Max's age. They're in the closest one, and you can switch it or remove them." | Your child is outside every section's ages. Check with the organization, pick another section, or remove the child. |
Siblings can be in different sections in the same checkout. Add each child with + Add another attendee, and each one is matched to their own section. A child can be in only one section of a class. Your confirmation email lists each section's day, time and place.
Just one date of a weekly class
Some weekly classes let you come to a single date instead of the whole term.
- On the activity page, open Option (1) and choose Just one date.
- Choose the day in Date (2). When the class has a limit, each date shows how many spots are left.
- Select Register. Checkout opens with Just one date and your date already chosen.
If you open the page for one particular date, the card starts on Just one date with that date already chosen. Under the fields, a note shows the whole-term price and, when it applies, how many dates make the whole term the cheaper choice ("Coming to 6 or more Wednesdays? The whole term is cheaper.").
When a date is full. A full date stays in the list but can't be chosen. At checkout the note under Date names it, for example "Wed Oct 28 is full. Tell me if a spot opens." That link opens the date's own page, where you can join the waitlist. To learn how the waitlist works, see Saved activities and the waitlist.
When your child already has the whole term. A child booked for the whole term isn't offered a single date as well. Checkout says so, for example "Max is already in for the whole term, so isn't offered here and can't buy a date twice."
When a date is full and you buy the whole term. The whole term leaves out any date that's already full, and you aren't charged for it. The note under the ticket names the full dates, for example "Oct 28 is full, so it's left out and not charged.", with a link such as Tell me if a spot opens on Oct 28.
After the class has started. Some organizations still take whole-term sign-ups after the first date. The option then reads Rest of the term, priced for the dates that are left. If the organization doesn't take late sign-ups and sells no single dates, the card shows Registration closed with the date it started. Select Save it on Famlo to keep the class in your Saved list. If the organization runs it again, Famlo emails you when the next term is listed. See Saved activities and the waitlist.
Packs of visits
A pack is a set of visits you buy once and spend on the dates you choose, for example a 5-visit pack.
Buy a pack
- At checkout, choose the pack in the attendee card's Ticket field (1).
- To book your first visit now, choose a date in Use a visit now? (optional) (2). To save every visit for later, choose Not now.
- Finish checkout as usual.
The note under the fields sums up the rules: "One pack for your family, for any of your children." A visit you cancel before its date starts comes back to the pack, and the visits end on the date the class ends.
Spend a visit
- From Account settings › Packs, select Use a visit on the pack. Checkout opens with the pack as the Ticket, shown as Pack visit with the visits left. Choose the child and the Date. A visit costs nothing at checkout, because you paid when you bought the pack.
- If you book Just one date of the same class, you can also choose Use a visit from my pack when checkout asks who pays for that spot.
See your pack
Account settings › Packs opens Your packs. Packs appears in Account settings only after you've bought a pack. Each pack shows the organization, the class, the visits left, which children can use it and when it ends. Under What's happened is a list of every change, such as "Bought 5 visits", each date booked, each visit attended and each visit that came back.
Cancel a visit or a pack
| What you cancel | What happens |
|---|---|
| A visit, before its date starts | "Cancel now and the visit goes back to your pack." |
| A visit, after its date has started | "This date has started, so the visit stays used." |
| The whole pack | Any dates you booked with it that haven't started are canceled too. You get a refund for the visits you haven't used, following the class's refund terms. Once the class's last date has started, there's no refund. |
A pack ends when the class's last date ends, and any visits left then can't be used. For refunds in general, see Cancelling and refunds.
Members price
Some organizations offer a lower price to their own members. Checkout offers it only to families who are members of that organization, so you need to be signed in with the account that holds the membership. If you aren't a member, you see the other prices. To learn how to join an organization, see Your memberships.
Sibling rate
A sibling rate makes a second or later child on the same price cost less. You don't choose it. Checkout applies it on its own when you register the children together, and the order summary shows the lower amount before you pay. On a class with sections, it shows as its own line, for example "2nd child 10% off".
The rate counts the children in one checkout, so add every child with + Add another attendee before you pay.
Hourly options
Some options are priced by the hour. The price shows "per hour", and you set Hours on the booking card and again in the attendee card at checkout. The option's price is multiplied by the hours you choose.
Add-ons in sizes
Add-ons, such as a T-shirt or a materials kit, are chosen for each attendee under Add-ons for this attendee. When an add-on comes in sizes, you choose None or one size for each child, so siblings can each have their own size.
Troubleshooting
I can't choose the date I want. It's full. At checkout, select Tell me if a spot opens next to the date to open its page and join the waitlist.
Just one date isn't offered for my child. Your child is already booked for the whole term, so they can't buy a single date as well.
My child is in the wrong section. Change the Section field in their attendee card before you pay. If the note says no section fits their age, ask the organization which one to choose.
I don't see the members price. Make sure you're signed in with the account that holds your membership. Only members of that organization see it.
The sibling rate didn't apply. The rate applies only to children registered in the same checkout, on the same price. Your order can't be changed after you book, so message the organization if you booked your children separately.
I can't use my pack. Check Account settings › Packs. A pack with no visits left, or one whose class has ended, has no Use a visit button.
