Your calendar

Your calendar is one page holding everything your family has booked. This guide covers reading it, filtering it, and subscribing to it from the calendar app you already use.

Open it from Calendar in the navigation.

note

The calendar holds what you have booked, and nothing else. Activities you have saved, activities run by organizations you follow, and activities you were merely browsing do not appear here. Saved ones live under Saved & watchlist.

Bookings in the account menu brings you to this same page, in List view.

Two views

The toggle at the top right offers Week and List. There is no month grid and no timeline.

Week lays the week out with times down the side, so you can see clashes and gaps. Alongside it you get:

  • Previous week and Next week arrows
  • The date range you are looking at
  • Today, which jumps back to this week

On a phone, Week shows the same bookings as a day-by-day agenda rather than a grid, because a seven-column timetable does not fit a phone screen.

List runs straight down in date order. It is the faster view for "what have we got coming up".

Filter what you see

The sidebar down the left has two sets of checkboxes, all ticked to begin with. Untick anything to hide it.

  • Who's going — one row per child, with a count of the upcoming activities they are booked into. Each child has their own colour.
  • Communities — one row per organization, covering the organizations you follow and any organization with something on your calendar.

Above them sits a small month grid for jumping to another date.

Open a booking

In Week view, click a block. A panel opens with the time, the place, the organization, which of your children are booked in, and the booking's status. View details takes you through to the activity.

In List view, the activity's title is a link straight to the activity page.

Either way, cancelling happens on the activity page, not on the calendar. An activity the organizer has cancelled is struck through and badged Cancelled.

Add one activity to your calendar app

For a single booking, use the .ics download rather than a subscription.

  • On the activity page, under the RSVP area, click Add to calendar.
  • In List view, each row has an Add to calendar button at the right-hand end.

This downloads one file. It is a snapshot: if the organizer later moves the activity, your copy does not update. For that, subscribe.

Subscribe from Apple, Google or Outlook

A subscription keeps your calendar app in step with Famlo automatically. It is a link, not a file.

Turn the feed on

  1. Open Calendar.
  2. Click Subscribe.
  3. Click Enable calendar feed.

Your private link appears. Click it to copy it, or click Add to calendar to hand it straight to your default calendar app.

Add it to your calendar app

The panel's Setup instructions carry the same three recipes:

  • Apple Calendar — File → New Calendar Subscription, paste the link.
  • Google Calendar — Other calendars → From URL, paste the link.
  • Outlook — Add calendar → Subscribe from web, paste the link.

Your calendar app decides how often it checks for changes, so a new booking can take a while to appear. That is your app's schedule, not Famlo's.

danger

The link is the only thing protecting the feed. Anyone who has it can read your family's schedule without signing in to anything.

The feed reaches back ninety days as well as forward, and each entry names the children you booked in, on a line reading "For:" and their names. Treat the link like a password: do not post it, do not put it in a shared document, and do not send it to the organizers of anything.

Famlo says the same thing on the panel: anyone with this link can see your calendar, so do not share it, and regenerate it if it leaks.

Regenerate link issues a new one and kills the old one instantly. Apps subscribed to the old link stop updating until you paste in the new one, so plan to re-add it everywhere you use it.

Turn off feed switches the whole thing off. The link stops working and subscribed apps stop updating. You can enable it again later, which mints a fresh link.

Both controls live on the calendar's own Subscribe panel. There is nothing to configure in your account settings.

Troubleshooting

An activity I registered for is not here. Check the sidebar first — the child or the organization may be unticked. If the filters are all on, the booking may not be confirmed; open the activity and check its status.

Something I saved is missing. Saving is not booking. Saved activities are under Saved & watchlist, not here.

Times look wrong. Everything renders in your device's timezone. If your device is set to another zone, or you are travelling, that is what you are seeing.

My calendar app is not picking up a change. Subscribed calendars refresh on the app's own schedule, and some apps only check a few times a day. Look in your calendar app's settings for its refresh interval.

The feed link stopped working. Either it was regenerated, or the feed was turned off. Open Subscribe on your calendar and see which — then copy the current link, or click Enable calendar feed to start a new one.

I only want to see one child's schedule. Untick everyone else under Who's going.
