Getting started as a new family

This guide takes you from no account to your first booking. It is for the parent or guardian who sets Famlo up for the household. Famlo is free for families, and stays free.

Create your account

Signing in and signing up happen on the same screen. It is titled Log in or sign up, and the line underneath reads "Enter your email and we'll send you a code."

  1. Go to famlo.co/login, or select Log in or sign up from the menu.
  2. Type your address in the Email field.
  3. Select Continue. Famlo emails you a six-digit code.
  4. On Confirm it's you, enter the six digits and select Continue.
  5. On Let's create your account, fill in your first name, last name, and a password of at least eight characters.
  6. Select Agree and continue.
  7. On Everyone belongs here, read the Community Commitment and select Agree and continue.

You are signed in from that moment. Entering the code confirms your address, so there is no separate verification email to open.

note

On the last screen, Decline removes the account you just created. It is a real choice, not a way to skip the step.

If the code does not arrive

Check your spam or junk folder first. On the code screen, Send a new code sends a fresh one. Try another way offers Continue with a passkey and Enter your password instead.

Other ways to sign in

Famlo does not require a password day to day, but several routes exist and you can use whichever suits you.

  • Continue with a passkey — sits above the social buttons, and appears only on a device that can run it. On a device that already holds one, the button names that device instead.
  • Google, Facebook, and Apple — the social buttons under the divider. On a wide screen they collapse into three icons.
  • Use a password instead — the link at the bottom of Log in or sign up. It leads to Enter your password, which also carries Forgot your password?.

For managing passkeys, passwords, and connected accounts afterwards, see Login and security.

Who can hold an account

You must be 18 or older, or of legal age to enter agreements where you live. You confirm this when you select Agree and continue.

Children do not have their own Famlo accounts. An adult adds them to their own account as family members. That is what puts a child's name, age, and safety details in front of the organization running an activity.

Add your family

Adding your children and other household members is what lets you register a specific person rather than a whole household.

  1. Open the account menu and select My family.
  2. Select + Add family member.
  3. Enter their Name in the single name field.
  4. Choose a Relationship — Child, Spouse, or Other.
  5. Set the Birthdate.
  6. Select Add.

The add form asks those three things only. Allergies, health, medications, pickup, and the emergency contact are filled in afterwards on the member's own page, one section at a time. Your family profile covers all six sections and who can see each one.

What Famlo costs your family

Nothing. Families pay $0, always. It is not a trial. There is no add-on platform fee and no processing fee at checkout. You pay only the price an organization sets for a class, camp, or field trip, plus any membership dues you choose to take on.

Organizations pay Famlo out of their own share of what they collect, and it is never added to your total. What's free and what's paid covers that side. Payments and refunds covers how charges, credit, and refunds work.

Register for your first activity

  1. Select Browse activities to see what is running near you.
  2. Open an activity and read its dates, price, and age range.
  3. Start a registration from the activity page.
  4. Choose who is attending, then complete checkout.

Finding activities covers searching and filtering. Registering and checking out covers the checkout screen in detail. To join an organization rather than book a single activity, see Finding and joining organizations.

Troubleshooting

The code never arrived. Check spam, then select Send a new code. If your address was mistyped, go back and start again from Log in or sign up — the address on the code screen is the one the code went to.

I never set a password. You do not need one. Ask for a code from Log in or sign up each time, or set up a passkey. If you did set a password and lost it, use Forgot your password? on the Enter your password screen.

I want an account for my child. There is no child account. Add them as a family member on your own account instead.

My child is not listed at checkout. The "Who's attending?" section only lists members you have added. Select Add family members there, or add them from My family first.

What's next

  1. Fill in your family profiles — allergies, medications, pickup, and emergency contact.
  2. Choose your notifications — which updates reach you, and where.
  3. Save activities and set alerts — track what fills up before you are ready to book.
