Your memberships

My memberships is one page listing every organization you belong to, paid and free. It is where you check what you are paying, when it renews, which card is on file, and how to stop.

To get there, open the account menu, select Account settings, then select Memberships.

What the page shows

Organizations that charge dues are listed under Paid memberships. Each row carries the organization's name, a status badge, the price, the renewal date and the amount due next.

Organizations that charge nothing are listed under Free groups, each with the role you hold there.

Organizations you own are not listed. You manage those from the organization console, not from here.

If you belong to nothing yet, the page says so and offers Discover groups.

Membership statuses

There are three badges you will see.

BadgeWhat it means
ActiveDues are being collected on schedule
Payment dueA charge failed and the membership is at risk
CanceledThe membership has ended

A separate Leaving Famlo badge appears if the organization has scheduled its own closure. Your membership is cancelled on that date and the unused part of your term is refunded then.

How dues are billed

The organization sets the billing cadence when it sets its price. You do not choose it, and you cannot change it from your side.

There are six cadences: Monthly, Every 2 months, Quarterly, Every 6 months, Annually and One-time fee. The price on your row is written the same way, for example "$25.00 / month" or "$60.00 / quarter". A one-time fee is charged once when you join and never renews.

Recurring dues renew automatically until you cancel. Your row shows Renews and the date, so the next charge is never a surprise. Famlo emails a reminder before an annual renewal about a month ahead, and a few days ahead of a monthly one.

Dues are paid to the organization. They are the merchant of record, so their name appears on your statement.

Change the card on a membership

You can move a membership onto a different card at any time, before anything goes wrong.

  1. Find the membership under Paid memberships. The card on file is shown with its brand and last four digits.
  2. Select Change card.
  3. On Change payment method, choose one of your saved cards, or choose Use a new card and enter the details.
  4. Select Save card.

The page tells you what will happen: "The new card takes over your next renewal. You won't be charged now."

Each membership has its own card on file. Changing one does not change the others. Cards themselves are managed on the payments page — see Payments and refunds.

When a payment fails

A failed charge flips the badge to Payment due and puts an amber panel on the row. It reads "Payment issue — we couldn't charge your card, so this membership is at risk." It also tells you how long ago the last attempt was.

Famlo escalates in three stages while the card keeps failing.

StageWhat you are told
RetryA first courtesy reminder. The card is still being retried automatically.
Action requiredYour bank needs you to approve the charge before it can go through.
Final warningRetries are nearly exhausted and the membership will lapse.

You have three ways to fix it from the same panel.

  • Pick a card from the Pay with list and select Update & retry payment. This switches the membership to that card and retries the outstanding charge at once. Expired cards are listed but cannot be picked.
  • Select Use a different or new card to open Change payment method, where the button reads Save card & retry payment.
  • If you have no cards saved at all, select Add a card and save one first.

When it works, the page confirms "Payment updated — your membership is active again."

Use a discount code

Discount codes work against a live membership, not only at the moment you join.

  1. Find the active membership under Paid memberships.
  2. Type your code into Have a discount code?
  3. Select Apply code.

A code the organization has set aside for you appears on the row by itself. It is headed "Your group offered you a discount", with the terms below. Select Apply with the code named on the button and it is applied for you.

A code has to belong to the organization you are applying it to. Codes from one organization do not work at another.

Receipts and payment history

Each paid membership carries a collapsed Payment history section listing recent invoices. Open it to see the amount, the status and the date each was paid.

Where a receipt exists, a Receipt link opens the Stripe-hosted invoice in a new tab.

Cancel a paid membership

Cancelling asks you one question first: when it should stop.

  1. Find the membership under Paid memberships.
  2. Under When should it end?, choose At the end of this period or Immediately.
  3. Select Cancel membership.
  4. Confirm when asked.

Choosing At the end of this period stops future charges. Your access stays in place until the term you have already paid for runs out. Famlo confirms the exact end date.

warning

Choosing Immediately ends the membership on the spot.

Whether money comes back depends on how long you have been a member:

  • Within 7 days of your first payment, cancelling immediately refunds that first payment in full. Your memberships page shows the date the window closes while you are still inside it.
  • After that, an immediate cancellation issues no refund — you give up the rest of the term you have paid for.

So unless you are inside the 7-day window or you need the membership gone today, choose At the end of this period instead. You keep everything you have paid for until the term runs out.

If an organization removes you, or Famlo cancels a membership on its own, the unused part of your current period is refunded. That treatment applies to those cancellations, not to your own.

Cancelling a membership does not cancel bookings you have already made for that organization's activities. Those follow the booking refund rules in Payments and refunds.

Leave a free organization

Free memberships have nothing to cancel, so they have a single control.

  1. Find the organization under Free groups.
  2. Select Leave.
  3. Confirm when asked.

The membership is removed straight away and Famlo confirms you have left. To come back you rejoin like any new member, and if the organization screens applicants you go through that again. See Finding and joining organizations.

Troubleshooting

An organization I belong to is not on this page. You are its owner, and owners are managed from the organization console rather than here.

I cancelled but I was charged again. Check the badge. A membership cancelled at the end of the period stays Active until that date. The last charge may also have been in flight already.

I cancelled immediately and want my money back. If you cancelled within 7 days of your first payment, that payment is refunded in full automatically — there is nothing to request. Outside that window, no refund is issued automatically; message the organization, which decides its own refunds.

My card was refused when I tried to remove it. It is on file for an active membership. Change the card on that membership first, then remove it from the payments page.

My discount code was refused. Codes are tied to one organization and can expire, start later, run out of redemptions, or be limited to one use per family. Ask the organization to confirm which code applies to you.

I still have access to an organization I cancelled. Access runs to the end of the period you paid for. The row shows the date it stops.
