Buying from a shop, and your downloads
Some organizations sell guides, printables, videos and bundles from a shop. You buy them with the same Famlo account and checkout you use for classes, and they stay in your account under Library & resources, ready to download or watch any time.
Find an organization's shop
An organization's shop is on its own website: select Shop in the website's menu. The menu shows Shop only while the organization has something on sale. Organizations can also share a direct link to any one item.
The shop page is headed "Guides, kits and workshops". Where they apply, filters at the top narrow it to Downloads, Videos or Free for members. Each card shows the price, with "Free" for free items, and a Get it or Buy button. Open a card to see the item's page: what it is, and for a bundle, what's in it.
Buy or get an item
- Open Shop in the organization's website menu (1).
- Select Buy on a paid item, or Get it on a free one (2). You can also open the item first and use the button on its page.
- Sign in with your Famlo account if you aren't already.
- Under Who is this for?, leave Just us (the family), or pick a child. One copy covers your whole family.
- For a paid item, choose how to pay and select Pay $… today (Confirm order when nothing is charged to a card today). For a free item, select Get it.
On an organization's website, checkout stays on that website. It is the same checkout as for classes, so promo codes, saved cards and account credit work the same way. See Paying at checkout.
When the order goes through, the confirmation shows Your order with Open it in your parent portal. If your payment is still going through, it says "It will be in your parent portal as soon as the payment goes through."
You also get an email from the organization titled "It's yours:" followed by the item's name, with the same Open it in your parent portal button. The files aren't attached to the email. They stay in your account, so sign in with the same account you bought with.
The booking fee
Paid items include a booking fee of 3.7% of the price plus $1.79, plus the cost of processing your payment. It's already in the price you see in the shop, and some organizations pay it for you. Free items have no fee. See What families pay.
Paying with Step Up
Some items can be paid with a Step Up scholarship. Those show "Paying with a Step Up scholarship? Name the child it's for, then choose it in the next step." Pick the child under Who is this for?, then choose your scholarship when checkout asks who pays. Scholarship bookings carry no booking fee. See Paying with Step Up or an ESA.
Where your items live
Everything you have from a shop is listed under Library & resources:
| Where | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Your Dashboard on famlo.co (Home on a phone) | Items from every organization, each with the organization's name. The card appears once you have something. |
| An organization's Parent portal, on the Overview tab | Only that organization's items, plus Browse the shop when it sells anything. |
Each item shows what it is and how you got it: "Bought" with the date, "In a bundle you bought", or "Included with membership". The same item opens from either place.
To learn your way around the portal, see Your Parent portal.
Download or watch
In Library & resources, select Download on an item, or Watch on a video. An item with a single file downloads straight away. One with several files opens the item's page, where Your downloads lists each file with its own Download button (1).
- Download links last 5 minutes. Each time you select Download, Famlo makes a fresh private link. A link you copied or forwarded stops working after 5 minutes. Save the file to your device, and come back to download it again whenever you need to.
- Videos play on the item's page. If the organization hosts the video somewhere else, the page says so ("… hosts this video. It opens in a new tab.") and Watch opens it in a new tab.
- Bundles are listed as the items inside them. A bundle's page shows In this bundle, with Open or Watch for each item.
- If the organization stops selling an item you bought, you keep it.
Items that are free for members
Some items are marked "Free for" followed by the organization's name and "members". If you're a member, they appear in your Library & resources as "Included with membership" without buying anything. On the item's page, select Get it free to open your copy.
If you aren't a member, Get it free shows "This is free for … members, and it isn't in your account yet." You can buy it on its own with Buy for $…, or select About membership to join. See Your memberships.
Items included with membership last as long as your membership. If your membership ends, or the organization stops offering the item, it leaves your library. Items you bought outright stay.
Refunds
You can't cancel a shop purchase yourself. To ask for your money back, message the organization (see Messages). The organization decides and sends any refund.
If the organization refunds the full price, the item is removed from your account. A partial refund leaves it in place. Refunds reach your original card in 5–10 business days.
Shop purchases are listed in Payments & invoices with your other payments, where you can open each one for its receipt. See Payments & invoices and your receipts.
Buying on a phone
Buy paid items in your phone's web browser, on the organization's website or famlo.co. Free items work everywhere.
Troubleshooting
I selected Buy, and it took me to my copy instead. You already have it, from an earlier purchase, a bundle, or your membership. Famlo shows "It's already yours." and opens your copy, so you're never charged twice.
The page says "This isn't in your account." The item belongs to a different Famlo account. The page says: "If you bought it with a different email, sign in with that one."
A download link doesn't work. Links last 5 minutes. Go back to Library & resources or the item's page and select Download again.
An item disappeared from my library. It was refunded in full, or it came with a membership that has ended. If neither applies, message the organization.
I can't find Library & resources on my Dashboard. The card appears only once you have at least one item. Check you're signed in with the account you bought with.
