Booking and buying on an organization's website

On an organization's own website you can find its classes, register, book its services and buy from its shop without leaving the site. You use your free Famlo account and the same checkout as on famlo.co, so prices, payment and refund terms work the same way.

Find a class

Select Classes in the website's menu (the organization may give it another name). The page lists the organization's upcoming classes as cards, each with its days and time, ages, place, price, seats left and a Register button.

To narrow the list:

  1. Use the filters at the top of the page (1). Each one starts on its "any" choice, such as Any age, Any day or All subjects. For ages, select Any age, drag the two ends of the Ages slider to your child's age range, then select Apply.
  2. Use Show by (2) to group the cards differently, for example by Category or Day.
  3. Select a class's card to open its page.
The Classes page on Sunnyside Learning Co.'s website, with the age, day and subject filters highlighted as 1, Show by with Category and Day highlighted as 2, and class cards with prices and Register buttons

The organization chooses which filters to offer. They can include Ages, Town, Day, Time of day, Starts in, Subject and Instructor, plus two switches, Pays with Step Up / ESA and Has open seats. A filter only appears when the classes differ on it, so a co-op that meets in one town has no Town filter.

  • Clear filters puts the full list back.
  • On a phone, select Filters to open them, then Show with the number of matching classes. Clear all resets them.
  • A filtered page has its own web address, so you can copy it and send it to another parent.

If nothing matches, the page says "No classes match all of those yet. Try another day or town, or see everything."

Which classes you'll see

The organization decides where each class appears:

  • Most classes show both on famlo.co and on its website.
  • Some show only on its website, so you may find classes there that you didn't see on famlo.co.
  • Some open only from a direct link the organization shares. They're not in the list, but the link works.
  • Members-only classes never appear on the website's public pages. See Members-only pages and memberships on a website.

Register for a class

A class page shows its details on the left and a booking panel beside them (at the end of the page on a phone).

  1. Check the price, the session dates and how many seats are left.
  2. If the panel asks, choose a Section, an Option or Hours. Then choose how many Children (1) you're registering. Tick any add-ons you want.
  3. Select Sign In to Register (2). If you're already signed in, it reads Register. For a free class it reads RSVP.
  4. Sign in with your Famlo account if you're asked. You come straight back and go on to checkout.
  5. Finish checkout. See Registering and paying for each step.
The booking panel on a class page: the price for all 10 sessions, 7 seats left, the session dates, the Children picker highlighted as 1, and Sign In to Register with You won't be charged yet highlighted as 2, then the Total, the refund line and Ask a question

What the panel tells you:

  • The price already includes the booking fee. Paid bookings include a booking fee of 3.7% of the price plus $1.79 a ticket, plus the cost of processing your payment. Some organizations pay it for you. See What's free and what's paid.
  • "You won't be charged yet" and the Total: nothing is charged until you pay at checkout.
  • The refund line, such as "Full refund any time before the first class." These are the organization's own terms for this class.
  • A scholarship line, when the organization accepts scholarship funds for the class. You choose your program at checkout. Some organizations also show "Need help paying?". See Scholarships and help paying.
  • Ask a question opens the website's contact form with the class name already filled in.

On a phone, a bar at the bottom of the screen keeps the price and a Sign In (or Register) button in view.

The button is grayed out when you can't register: This class has started, or Not open for registration.

When a class is full

When nothing is left to book, the panel shows Full and the button reads Join waitlist, with the note "When a seat opens, we email every family who saved it at the same moment, and the first to register gets it." Class cards show Join waitlist too.

  1. Select Join waitlist. Sign in with your Famlo account if you're asked.
  2. The page that opens, Join the waitlist, says the class is full. Select Join the waitlist.
  3. You see "You're on the waitlist. We'll alert everyone the moment a spot opens — first to register gets it." The button changes to You're on the waitlist. Select it again to leave the waitlist.

The class is saved to your account, the same as joining the waitlist on famlo.co, so it also appears on your Saved page there. See Saved activities and the waitlist.

Checkout stays on the website

Checkout opens on the organization's website, in its look, with the organization's name and Famlo's at the top. It's the same checkout as on famlo.co: the same prices, booking fee, promo codes, credit and ways to pay.

  • The top of the page shows who's signed in, with Not you? to switch accounts, and Back to the class.
  • A website only sells its own classes, services and shop items.
  • If you add a child at checkout with Add someone new, they join your family everywhere, on famlo.co and on every other website.
  • When you're done, View my bookings opens the Bookings tab of your Parent portal on that website, and Back to the organization's name returns you to its site.

Your booking also appears on famlo.co, in your Calendar and in Payments & invoices, with everything you booked elsewhere.

Canceling a class you booked here

Open the Parent portal on the website, then Bookings, and select Cancel beside the class. The Cancel booking page shows your refund before you confirm, and the organization's refund terms for the class decide what comes back. Cancel shows until the class starts. You can also cancel from Calendar on famlo.co. See Your Parent portal and Cancelling and refunds.

Book a service or appointment

If the organization offers one-on-one services, its menu shows Services. Each service card shows how long it takes, how it happens (in person, Zoom or by email), the price, and one button:

ButtonWhat happens
BookPick a day and a time on the website, choose the children, then select Continue to payment. Checkout stays on the website. You get a confirmation and a calendar invite.
RequestThe service is by request, or has no open times right now. Request opens famlo.co, where you send the organization your request.

The line under the price says when it's next open ("Next open: Mon, Oct 12"), "By request", or "By email, no time to pick".

Booked appointments appear in your Parent portal, under Bookings. For moving or canceling one, and the time limits for changes, see Booking a service or appointment.

Buy from the shop

If the organization sells guides, printables or videos, its menu shows Shop. Select Buy or, for a free item, Get it. You pay through the same checkout, on the website.

What you buy stays in your account. On the website, it's in your Parent portal under Library & resources, ready to download or watch any time. See Buying from a shop, and your downloads.

Emails from the organization

When you book on an organization's website, your confirmation email can come in the organization's name and colors instead of Famlo's. Its View your booking button opens your bookings in that website's Parent portal. Not every organization's website sends it this way; otherwise you get Famlo's usual confirmation.

If you book the same organization's class on famlo.co instead, you get Famlo's usual confirmation. Reminders and other emails from the organization can also come in its name. See Contacting an organization, and emails from its website.

Reserve on Famlo buttons on other websites

Some organizations have their own website somewhere else, such as Wix, Squarespace or WordPress, and add a Famlo button to it. The button reads Reserve on Famlo, Check out on Famlo or Register on Famlo, and sometimes shows the price. Organizations can also share a short famlo.co/r link that does the same thing.

  • When the class is open, the button opens checkout in a new tab. Sign in first if you're asked. If the organization also has a website run on Famlo, checkout opens there; otherwise it opens on famlo.co.
  • When the class is full, the button reads Join the waitlist and opens the class's page on famlo.co, where you can join the waitlist.
  • When registration has closed, the button reads Registration closed and can't be selected.
  • If the class isn't open yet, the link opens the organization's page on famlo.co with "That class isn't open for registration yet."

When you've finished checkout, close the tab to go back to the organization's page.

Troubleshooting

I'm signed in, but the class page still says Sign In to Register. Select it anyway. You come straight back signed in and go on to checkout. Each organization's website signs you in separately, even when you're signed in on famlo.co. See Organizations with their own website.

I can't find a class the organization told me about. It may open only from a direct link, or be for members only. Ask the organization for the link, or check whether you need to be a member.

My booking isn't in this website's Parent portal. The portal shows only what you booked with that organization. Bookings with other organizations are in Calendar on famlo.co. If you signed in with a different email, sign out and sign in with the account you booked with.

I selected Request on a service and ended up on famlo.co. That's expected. Requests are sent from famlo.co, with the same account.
