Your Parent portal

The Parent portal is your area on an organization's own website. It shows your children, bookings, payments and membership with that organization only. You sign in with your Famlo account, so there's nothing new to set up. To open it, select Parent portal at the right of the website's menu.

If you haven't signed in on that website yet, see Organizations with their own website.

Find your way around

The portal has four tabs. The overview is Overview (1). Your children are under Children (2), what you've booked is under Bookings (3), and what you've paid is under Payments & receipts (4). On a phone, the last tab reads Payments. Once you've written a testimonial for this organization, a fifth tab, Testimonials, appears.

Your email address shows above the Parent portal heading ("Signed in as …"), and Sign out is on the right.

What's on the Overview

Cards only show up when there's something to put in them. On a phone they appear in this order, top to bottom:

CardWhat it shows
A Next step cardA scholarship invoice from this organization that's waiting on you, for example "Next step: send this to …". Select Open invoice.
A testimonial requestThe organization would like to hear how a class, appointment or membership went. Select Leave a testimonial, or Not now if you'd rather they didn't ask about it again.
From the organizationA shortcut the organization chose, such as See classes.
Coming upYour upcoming appointments here, with Reschedule or Details, and Join Zoom for an online appointment.
This week at the organizationYour classes and events here in the next seven days, with your children's names and the place. All bookings at the organization opens the Bookings tab.
Library & resourcesGuides, downloads and videos you bought or got free from this organization's shop, each with Download or Watch. Browse the shop appears when the organization has a shop.
MembershipOnly at organizations that charge membership dues. See Your membership card.
Member pagesPages on this website that you can open because you're signed in or a member. See Member pages.
ChildrenOne card per child, and Add a child.
Your scholarshipsScholarships this organization awarded you from its own funds: what's left, when it expires and where it went.
Recent paymentsYour last three payments to this organization. All payments & receipts opens the full list.

At the bottom, See everything on Famlo opens your family's page on famlo.co. That's where you'll find every organization you deal with, not just this one.

Children

Your children are the same everywhere on Famlo. If you change a detail here, it changes on famlo.co and on every other organization's website too.

Each child's card shows their age and grade, and a reminder when something is missing. It might say "Add allergies", "Add an emergency contact", "Add pickup & photos", or how many details are missing. Select the reminder to go straight to that form. When nothing is missing, the card says "All set".

To add a child:

  1. Open Parent portal, then Children.
  2. Select Add a child.
  3. Enter their Full name, and their birthdate and Grade if you like.
  4. Select Add child.

You can add allergies, pickup and emergency details afterwards.

To change a child's details, select the child. From there you can:

A child's page in the Parent portal, with Edit name, birthday or grade, Health & safety and School record numbered 1 to 3
  • Change their name, birthday or grade with Edit name, birthday or grade (1), then select Save.
  • Update their health and safety details under Health & safety (2). The rows are Basics, Allergies, Special needs & accommodations, Medications & diet, Pickup & photos and Emergency contact, the same ones as on famlo.co. Organizations your family is a member of, and any organization you register this child with, can see their profile, including allergies, medical notes, special needs and emergency contact. The people running the organization see it, and a teacher sees it for the classes they teach. Other parents don't.
  • See their School record (3) for this school year. You can add courses or activities with Add a course or activity, and edit, hide or remove the lines you added. A line that came from a class you booked can be hidden but not removed. Transcript, Hours log and Scholarship spending open on famlo.co, where they print. More in Your child's school record.

The child's Overview also lists their classes with this organization.

note

You can't remove a child or upload a child's photo in the Parent portal. Do both from Family on famlo.co. See Your family and children.

Bookings

The Bookings tab lists your appointments first. Below them, under Coming up, are your classes with this organization: the date and time, the class, which child is booked, the place, and how it was paid. Past bookings appear under Past.

The Bookings tab in the Parent portal, listing three upcoming classes, each with a Cancel link, and See bookings everywhere on Famlo numbered 1

See bookings everywhere on Famlo (1) opens Calendar on famlo.co, with your bookings at every organization.

Cancel a class booking

A class under Coming up shows Cancel on the right until it starts. You stay on the organization's website the whole time.

  1. Open Parent portal, then Bookings.
  2. Select Cancel beside the class.
  3. Check the refund on the Cancel booking page. It follows the organization's refund terms for that class, the same as on famlo.co.
  4. Select Cancel booking, then confirm ("Cancel this booking? This can't be undone."). To back out, select Keep booking.

You're back on the Bookings tab, with a note such as "Booking cancelled. A refund of amount is on its way." Cancelling gives up the spot. To come back, you book again, if there's still room.

Once a class has started, it no longer shows Cancel. To ask for money back, open the booking in Calendar on famlo.co and select Request a refund. See Cancelling and refunds.

You can move or cancel an appointment from its own page (Reschedule or Details), as long as you're within the organization's time limit for changes. See Booking a service or appointment.

Payments & receipts

Payments & receipts lists every payment you've made to this organization, one year at a time. Use Year, Status and Paid with to narrow the list. When you've paid by card, the year's total appears beside the filters.

Select a row to see its details. Depending on the payment, these include View Stripe receipt, View Stripe invoice, Open scholarship invoice or Pay now.

To see payments to every organization, select See payments everywhere on Famlo. More in Payments & invoices and your receipts.

Scholarship invoices

If you pay with a state scholarship program, the organization's invoice for your booking opens from the Next step card on the Overview, or from the payment in Payments & receipts. The invoice shows its progress and your step: submit the invoice to your program, or reserve the funds in the program's portal. When you've done it, mark it there so the organization knows. It's the same invoice you'd see on famlo.co. The steps for each program are in Paying with Step Up or an ESA.

Your membership card

At an organization that charges membership dues, the Membership card shows where you stand:

StatusWhat it meansLink

CoveredThe organization is covering your membership. "Nothing to pay."Manage membership

Not a memberYou haven't joined.See membership

Managing a membership, changing your card and canceling all happen on famlo.co. More in Your memberships.

Member pages

The Member pages card lists the pages on this website you can open, each marked Members or Signed-in families. If the organization sells membership, it also lists the members' pages you can't open yet, with See membership. Who can open which page is covered in Members-only pages and memberships on a website.

Testimonials

Once you've shared a testimonial with this organization, the Testimonials tab shows what you wrote and where it stands: Waiting for the organization, Published, Not published, or Private, which means only the organization reads it. Select Change it to edit your words, which sends them back to the organization to review. Select Withdraw to take it down. Share another starts a new one. More in Share your experience (testimonials).

Troubleshooting

I don't see a booking, payment or child from another organization. The Parent portal shows one organization only. Select See everything on Famlo to see everything in one place.

There's no Membership card. It only appears at organizations that charge membership dues.

A class has no Cancel link. Cancel shows only before the class starts. After the start, select Request a refund on the booking in Calendar on famlo.co. If you'd like money back for something you can't cancel yourself, message the organization.

The portal shows the wrong account. Check the "Signed in as" line on the Overview. Select Sign out, then sign in again with the Famlo account you booked with. Signing out on the website also signs you out of Famlo in that browser.
