Your child's school record

Each child in your family has a School record: one page per school year listing what they learned and for how many hours. Classes you book on Famlo fill it in on their own, overnight. You add everything else, like curriculum at home, books and sport. It's free and there's nothing to set up.

Open a child's school record

  1. Select Family in the top bar (1). On a phone, tap Family in the bar at the bottom.
  2. Select your child (2).
  3. Select School record (3).

You can also get there from:

  • the School year so far card on your Dashboard (Home on a phone). Tap a child, or select Transcripts, diplomas & student IDs;
  • the School record card on your child's Overview, through the link Transcript, hours log & IDs.

The page is titled with your child's name, for example "Max's school record", with their grade and the school year under it. Two buttons sit at the top: Transcript and Log a week.

What's on the page

At the top are four totals for the year:

TotalWhat it counts
Hours this yearAll recorded and logged hours on the page. Hours that come only from a class schedule show underneath as "+ 6.0 scheduled" and aren't added in.
Recorded by groupsHours on the rows from your Famlo bookings.
Logged by youHours on the rows you added.
CreditsThe credit you've set across all rows. Until you set any credit, this shows Subjects covered instead: how many different subjects the year includes.

Below them is Documents built from this record: the transcript, hours log, diploma, student ID and the rest. See Transcripts, diplomas and other documents.

Then come two lists:

  • From your Famlo bookings: classes Famlo added for you ("Added automatically · edit or hide any of them").
  • Added by you: your own rows ("Work at home, books, sport, classes elsewhere").

Each row shows the course, the organization and instructor when there is one, then the dates, sessions, hours, credit and grade, for example "Sep 2026 – Oct 2026 · 5 of 6 sessions · 7.5 hours".

What the badges mean

BadgeMeaning
Provider recordsFilled in from the organization's attendance or its class schedule.
Instructor confirmedThe organization confirmed your child completed the course. A line underneath says who, for example "Confirmed by …" or "Confirmed under …'s completion policy", and the date.
Added by youA row you added yourself.
HiddenA row you hid. It's left off your documents and totals.

How classes fill in the record

Once a night, Famlo updates each child's record from the classes you booked for them on Famlo:

  • When the organization takes attendance, sessions marked Present or Late count. Absent and Excused don't. Hours come from each session's start and end times.
  • When a class you booked and paid for has no attendance, Famlo uses the organization's published schedule instead. It counts only meetings that have already happened, and shows those hours as "scheduled hours", kept apart from hours an organization recorded. If you cancel partway through, the count stops at the day you cancelled.
  • A weekly class is one line, not one per meeting. A 30-week co-op class shows as a single course with its sessions counted, like "27 of 30 sessions".

The hours keep up as the term goes on. Each night they're brought up to date with every session the organization has counted so far, including any attendance it corrected. Once an organization takes attendance on a class that was showing scheduled hours, the recorded hours take their place.

The nightly update never undoes your changes. If you rename a class, set a subject or add credit, your version stays. Hours you typed in yourself stay too, unless the organization records hours for that class.

Add a course or activity

Use this for anything Famlo can't see: curriculum at home, reading, sport, a class you took somewhere else. To fill in a whole week at once, use Log a week instead.

  1. Open your child's School record.
  2. Under Added by you, select Add a course or activity.
  3. Enter the Course or activity. It's the only required field.
  4. Fill in what else you want to keep:
    • Provider: who taught it. "Leave blank for work done at home."
    • Subject: pick a suggestion or type your own.
    • Grade: "A, B+, or leave blank."
    • Started and Finished.
    • Hours: "Total time spent across the year."
    • Credit: for high school only. Leave it blank below grade 9.
    • Notes: "Materials used, books read, anything an evaluator or a district would want by title."
  5. Select Add to record.

To change a row later, select Edit on it, then Save.

Subjects

The Subject box suggests English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Language, Fine Arts, Physical Education, Health, Technology and Electives. Using these keeps the same subject together on the transcript, but you can type anything.

Credit

Famlo never fills in credit for you. When a row has hours, the Credit box suggests a number at 150 hours per credit, for example "7.5 hours → 0.05 credit at 150 hours per credit". It's only a suggestion: type whatever your state or your own plan uses. Credit can be from 0 to 20.

What you can change on a class from Famlo

You can edit most of a row Famlo added: its name, subject, dates, credit and notes. Two things belong to the organization:

  • Hours the organization counted. The form shows them with "Counted by … from their own check-in. If it is wrong, ask them to correct it — their record is what a college would verify against."
  • A grade the organization gave. The form says "Given by …. Ask them to change it if it is wrong."

If the organization didn't record hours or a grade, those fields are yours to fill in.

Your changes only affect your documents. The organization's own record stays as it is.

Hide or remove a row

Rows from your Famlo bookings have Hide (1). Rows you added have Remove (2).

You can't remove a row from a class you booked. Hiding it keeps it off your documents without changing what the organization recorded.

The school year

The school year runs from August 1 to July 31, so the 2026–27 record covers August 1, 2026 to July 31, 2027. A new year starts on its own. Once your child has entries in more than one year, buttons with each year (like 2025–26 and 2026–27) appear at the top so you can switch between them.

Who sees this

The page says it plainly. For Max, it reads: "You see everything, across every provider Max attends. Each organization sees only the record it created — never what another organization recorded, and never what you added yourself. Hiding a row keeps it off your documents; it does not change the attendance a provider took."

Only children have a school record. Adults in your family don't.

If an organization you belong to has its own website, you can also see and edit this record from its Parent portal. It's the same record. See Your Parent portal.

Troubleshooting

I booked a class, but it isn't on the record. Famlo updates the record overnight. A class shows up the night after its first meeting has happened, or after the organization takes attendance. A term you booked ahead of time won't appear until classes begin. Also check that you picked this child when you booked: a class only goes on the record of the child it was booked for. See Registering and checking out.

A class shows no hours. If you see "… no recorded hours — the provider didn't log session times", the organization took attendance but its sessions have no start and end times. Select Edit on the row and add the hours yourself.

The hours say "scheduled". The organization didn't take attendance, so Famlo counted the class's published schedule. Scheduled hours are listed apart from recorded hours on the page and on your documents.

A booking I started isn't counting. A booking whose checkout wasn't finished, so it's still unpaid, doesn't count. Check your calendar to see whether the booking went through.

The hours or grade from an organization are wrong. You can't change them yourself. Ask the organization to correct their record. Corrected attendance reaches your child's record the next night.
