What's free and what's paid
Famlo is free for families. Organizations pay only when money actually moves, and never on money Famlo did not touch.
If you are a family
You pay $0. Always. It is not a trial.
You pay the price the organizer set for a class, a field trip, or membership dues. Nothing else, to anyone.
- No booking fee and no service charge. The number on the activity page is the number you pay.
- No subscription, and no trial that quietly ends.
- No ads, and your information is never sold.
That covers everything: searching, registering, keeping one profile for your whole family, calendar sync, reminders, and messaging.
There is no paid tier for families and no plan to add one. Organizations pay only when they collect money through Famlo, and that is the whole business model.
If you run an organization
Listing is free permanently — not for a trial period. A fee applies only to card payments you actually collect.
The three plans
| Plan | Price | Fee on card payments |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 / month | 10%, capped at $15 per enrollment |
| Invoicing | $49 / month | For organizations whose families pay by scholarship or ESA. No card fee, because no card |
| Platform | $99 / month | 0%, whatever the amount |
Every plan includes the whole product: your listing on the map, unlimited activities, rosters, attendance, messaging, allergy and pickup information, card checkout through your own payment account, offline payments recorded against tuition, and a financial ledger export.
The cap is the part that matters
The fee stops at $15 per enrollment, no matter how large the payment.
| Family pays | Famlo takes |
|---|---|
| $120 | $12.00 |
| $250 | $15.00 |
| $2,000 | $15.00 |
The cap is per enrollment, not per student, and that is deliberate. Co-ops price per family and offer sibling discounts, so capping per student would charge the largest families in your group the most.
What a real payment looks like
A $250 semester payment:
| Family pays | $250.00 |
| Famlo, capped | −$15.00 |
| Card processing, paid to Stripe | −$7.55 |
| You keep | $227.45 |
Card processing is separate
Stripe charges 2.9% + $0.30 for cards, and 0.8% capped at $5 for bank transfers. That goes to Stripe on every plan, not to Famlo, and it is not marked up. Budget for both when you price an activity.
You pay nothing on money Famlo never touched
Cash, check, bank transfer, and scholarship funds carry no fee at all. Record them against the same balance and that family gets everything a card payment unlocks.
If you run a vendor hall where teachers bill families directly, or you simply keep collecting the way you already do, you never pay Famlo anything.
When the $99 plan is worth it
Around $990 a month through card checkout. Below that, the free plan costs you less. Above it, the flat $99 wins.
Common questions
Is the free plan a trial? No. There is no time limit, and no feature turns off at day 30. If you never collect money through Famlo, you never pay Famlo.
Where does the fee come from? Your own payment account, at the moment a family pays by card. It is deducted at checkout, so no invoice arrives and there is nothing to reconcile at month end.
Do families see the fee? No. It comes out of your side. Families are never shown a service charge added to their total.
What happens if we leave? Export everything, and it is deleted. No exit fee. Your roster is yours.
