How Do I Recover My Account?

Most people who cannot get into Famlo are looking for a password they never had. Famlo does not need one. This guide covers the front door, the other ways in, and the password reset for the few people who set a password and then forgot it.

Quick Answer

Go to famlo.co and open Log in or sign up. It is one screen for both, and it says: "Enter your email and we'll send you a code."

Enter your email address, wait for the six-digit code, and type it in. That signs you in. There is no password to remember and nothing to reset.

Sign in with an email code

This is the default and, for most families, the only method they ever use.

  1. Go to famlo.co.
  2. Select Log in or sign up.
  3. Enter the email address on your account.
  4. Check your inbox for a six-digit code.
  5. Type the code into the screen.

You are in. The code is a short string of digits you type, not a link you click, so it works even if your mail app strips links or opens them in a different browser.

If the address you enter has no account, the next step is Let's create your account, which asks for a first name, a last name and a password, and finishes with Agree and continue.

The other ways in

Any of these gets you to the same account. Adding one does not switch the others off.

MethodWhat it needs
Email codeAccess to your inbox
Continue with a passkeyThe device you set it up on
Google, Facebook or AppleThe connected account
PasswordOnly if you set one

Continue with a passkey

If you have added a passkey, the sign-in screen offers Continue with a passkey before it asks for anything else, sometimes under the device's own name.

Select it and unlock the device with your fingerprint, face or screen lock. Nothing is typed and nothing can expire.

A passkey is the fastest recovery there is, because it does not depend on your inbox. Add one on each device you use regularly. See Login and security.

Google, Facebook or Apple

If you connected one of these, select it on the sign-in screen and complete the authentication with that provider.

This is the route to try if you cannot remember which email address you used. Signing in with the provider takes you to whichever Famlo account it is connected to.

If you set a password and forgot it

A password on Famlo is optional. If you never set one, skip this section entirely — the email code above is your route in.

  1. On the sign-in screen, select Use a password instead.
  2. Select Forgot your password?.
  3. Enter your email address.
  4. Open the reset email and follow the link.
  5. Choose a new password and save it.
warning

The reset link is valid for 15 minutes. Request it when you are ready to use it, not before, and if it has expired just request another. Each link works once.

If the link has gone stale and you are in a hurry, do not fight it. Go back and sign in with the six-digit email code instead, then set a new password from Account settingsLogin & security once you are in.

Troubleshooting

The code has not arrived. Give it a couple of minutes, then check your spam folder and search your mail for "Famlo". If it still is not there, request another and confirm you typed the address correctly.

I do not know which email I used. Search each of your mailboxes for "Famlo" and look for a booking confirmation or a welcome message. If you ever signed in with Google, Facebook or Apple, use that button instead and let the provider find the account.

The reset link says it has expired. Links last 15 minutes. Request a new one, or sign in with the email code and change your password from your account settings.

I clicked the reset link and nothing loaded. Select the link in the email rather than copying it out, and try a different browser if it still fails.

I received a reset email I did not request. Ignore it and do not follow the link. An unused link expires on its own. If you are worried, sign in and review Device history under Login & security, then sign out anything you do not recognise.

My account seems to have been deleted. Accounts are not removed for inactivity. Check the email address first. If you asked for deletion previously, your data may have been removed as you requested.

I cannot sign in at all, so I cannot reach the support form. Email support@famlo.co from the address you think is on the account.

Changing your email address

If the problem is that you can no longer read the mailbox on your account, change the address before you lose access to it.

Famlo sends a six-digit code to the new address to confirm you can receive mail there. Your old address keeps working until you confirm, so a typo cannot lock you out. No password is required.

The full walkthrough is in Login and security.

Keeping yourself out of trouble next time

Add a passkey. It is the one method that does not depend on your inbox, your memory or a link that expires. Add one on each device you use.

Keep your email address current. It is how every other route back in works. If you change providers, change it on Famlo before you lose the old mailbox.

Secure the mailbox itself. Two-factor authentication on your email account protects your Famlo account too, because the code goes there.

If you keep a password, make it unique. Store it in a password manager rather than reusing one from another site. Apple Keychain, Google Password Manager, 1Password and Bitwarden all do the job.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a password to use Famlo? No. A password is optional. The email code works whether or not you have one.

How long is the reset link valid? Fifteen minutes. Request another if it expires.

Is the code a link I click? No. It is six digits you read from the email and type into the sign-in screen.

Can I change my login email address? Yes, from your account settings. A six-digit code goes to the new address to confirm it.

Can I recover my account without access to my email? A passkey or a connected Google, Facebook or Apple account will still get you in. Failing that, contact support.

I keep getting signed out. Check Device history under Login & security and sign out anything you do not recognise, then sign back in.

Getting more help

If none of the above works, open a ticket at Account settingsSupport, or email support@famlo.co if you cannot get in to reach the form.

Include the email address you think is on the account, and what happens when you try. No response time is promised, so send the whole story the first time rather than waiting to be asked.
