How classes show on your site

Famlo fills your website's Classes page from the classes you run, so there's nothing to type in. In the on-page editor you choose how they look: the card style, what each card shows, how the page is grouped and which filters parents can use. You need the Website plan and Edit settings on the School settings line, which Owners and Co-leaders have.

Change how your class cards look

  1. Open Website in the console, then select Edit your website.
  2. Under Pages on the left, select Classes (1). The editor shows your real Classes page, and the Classes page panel opens on the right.
  3. Stay on the Cards tab (2).
  4. Pick a Card style, a choice for When a parent clicks a card, a Group by order and the details under On each card. The page in the middle redraws as you go.
  5. When you're happy, select Publish.

note

Everything on the Cards and Filters tabs is a draft change, like the rest of the editor. Families see it only after you publish. See Publish, schedule and restore versions.

What each card setting does

Card style. The editor shows only the styles your site's look can draw, so you may see fewer than these.

Card styleWhat families see
Photo grid"Big photos, three across."
Compact list"One line per class. Best for a long schedule."
Side-by-side"Photo beside the details, two across."
Weekly timetable"Monday to Friday in columns. Classes on set dates are listed under it."
Detail cards"A photo with the price on its corner, and the facts in a small grid."
Colored cards"Each subject gets its own soft color. No photo needed."
By date"A row per class under its date, the date large on the left."
Photo cards"The photo fills the card, with the title over it."
Poster cards"The subject in big type, with the title and facts under it."

When a parent clicks a card.

  • Register button (the starting choice): each card has a Register button that goes to sign-in and checkout on your site.
  • Open the class page: there's no button. The whole card opens the class page, where families see the full details before they book.

On each card. Tick the details you want: Photo, Day and time, Weather, Ages, Place, Price, Seats left, Teacher, Subject, Weeks and Register by. The class title always shows. At first, Photo, Day and time, Weather, Ages, Place, Price and Seats left are ticked.

Weather is the forecast for in-person classes this week. When there's no forecast for a class, its card simply leaves it out. More in Spanish, weather, branded emails and link previews.

Choose how the Classes page is grouped

Group by sets how your Classes page opens: Category, A–Z, Teacher, Town, Day or Date. It starts on Category.

  • Families can still switch the grouping with Show by at the top of the page. They always get Category, Day and Town, plus your own choice if it's another one.
  • Category, Teacher and Town need your classes to differ on them. If every class is in one town, for example, grouping by town won't take, and the page opens by category (or by day) instead.
  • With the Weekly timetable card style, the page is laid out by weekday, so Group by and Show by don't apply.

Choose the filters parents can use

Filters sit at the top of your Classes page. Parents use them to narrow the list, for example to classes for a 9-year-old on Tuesdays.

  1. In the editor, with the Classes page open, select the Filters tab (1).
  2. Turn each filter on or off with its switch.
  3. Select Publish when you're ready.

Hidden for now

A filter only shows when your classes differ on it. A filter that's on but can't show yet says Hidden for now and the reason (2), for example "all your classes are in one town", "none of your classes take Step Up / ESA" or "none of your classes is full". You don't need to do anything. It appears by itself once your classes differ, such as when you add a class in a second town.

On a phone, parents open the filters with Filters. A filtered page has its own web address, so you can share a link to it, such as your Tuesday classes.

Classes on your homepage

Your homepage has its own card settings.

  1. In the editor, open Home.
  2. Select the page name at the top of the editor, then Page settings….
  3. Select the Class cards tab.
  4. Choose the Card style, When a parent clicks a card and On each card, and how many classes the homepage lists under Classes on the homepage: 3, 4, 6, 9 or 12. It starts at 6.

A Classes section on another page sets its own number. See Sections you can add.

Which classes are listed on your site

Whether a class appears on your website is set on the class itself, not in the website editor. Open the class in Classes, then Who can see it in the Everything else card. See Create and publish a class.

A class also has to be published (not a draft) and still to come, or a repeating class that's still running. Because these are class settings, a change shows on your site without publishing the website.

Troubleshooting

I changed my cards, but families still see the old ones. Card and filter changes are drafts. Select Publish in the editor's top bar.

A filter I turned on isn't on my site. Look under it on the Filters tab. If it says Hidden for now, your classes don't differ on it yet, so there's nothing to narrow.

A class is missing from my Classes page. Check that it's published, that Who can see it is Famlo + your website or Your website only, and that it hasn't already finished.

My Group by choice isn't how the page opens. Your classes may not differ on it (one town, one teacher or one subject), or you're using Weekly timetable, which is laid out by weekday.
