Sections you can add

Your homepage and the pages you add are built from sections: a welcome at the top, a heading and text, your classes, a photo gallery, a contact form, and more. This page lists every section, what you can fill in, and the limits on photos and files. You need the Website plan and School settings set to Edit settings.

Add a section

Sections go on your homepage and on pages you add. Famlo fills your Classes and teachers pages by itself, so they don't take sections.

  1. Open Website, then select Edit your website.
  2. Select the section you want the new one to follow, on the page or in the list on the left.
  3. Select the plus button that appears under it. On an empty page, select Add a section instead.
  4. Choose a group on the left, or type in Search sections. The badge beside the title shows where the section will go, such as After “Numbers”.
  5. Select a card, then Add section.
  6. Fill in the section on its Content tab. Like every editor change, it's a draft until you publish.
The Add a section window, with the groups All, Welcome, Classes, People, Trust, Info, Shop and Sign-ups on the left, a Search sections box, and section cards such as Welcome (hero), marked One per page, Call to action, Programs by age, Classes and Weekly timetable

The previews are drawn in your site's look. A card marked One per page can't be added because the page already has one.

The groups

GroupWhat's in it
Welcome"The first thing families see"
Classes"Filled from your Classes automatically"
People"Your teachers, and what families say"
Trust"Why families can count on you"
Info"Words, photos and files you write"
Shop"Prices, and what your shop sells"
Sign-ups"Families get in touch or join your list"

Content and style

Select any section, on the page or in the list on the left (1), and the panel on the right shows its Content tab (2) and its Style tab (3). Content holds the fields listed on this page. If the section is filled from elsewhere in Famlo, a note at the top says where to change it. Style holds the layout, background, spacing, Hide on phones and a Link name. See Edit your website on the page.

The website editor with the Numbers section selected in the page list as 1, and the Content tab as 2 and the Style tab as 3 in the right-hand panel, which shows the note that Famlo counts these numbers, a Heading field and four number rows

Most sections have an optional Heading of up to 120 characters. Put asterisks around a word to make it stand out, in the style you pick under Emphasized words on the Style tab.

Sections you write

You type the words in these sections yourself. Numbers in brackets are the most characters a field takes.

Sections Famlo fills for you

These sections show what's already in Famlo and update by themselves. You choose the heading, how many to show and how they look.

SectionGroupWhere it comes from, and what you set
ClassesClassesYour upcoming classes. Show: All, or only some towns, categories or teachers. How many: 3, 4, 6, 9 or 12, or Same as homepage. Card style, and When there are no classes: Hide the section or Say new classes are coming. On each card applies to every class list on your homepage.
Weekly timetableClassesA Classes section that starts as a timetable: "Monday to Friday, every weekly class in its column." It shows every weekly class. Only offered in looks that draw a timetable.
Next classClasses"The next class that still has seats, in the spotlight." It changes by itself as classes fill and pass.
Programs by ageClassesUp to 6 age groups, each with a Name (60), From age and To age (0 to 18) and One line about it (200). Each links to its classes with a live count. Layouts: Soft cards, Color blocks, Bubbles or Columns.
NumbersTrustUp to 4 numbers Famlo counts: Classes this term, Teachers, Families booked recently and Year we started (you type the year). Words under it is optional. A number that comes to zero isn't shown, and Families booked recently is hidden until it reaches 10.
InstructorsPeopleCards linking to your teachers' profiles. "These come from your People: everyone shown on your website." How many (1 to 24, default 4), Card style, and switches for Photo, Bio and Classes they teach. Teachers' contact details are never shown.
TestimonialsPeopleTestimonials you published to your website. Show: featured, newest, or those about one class. How many: 1 to 12. See Testimonials.
Programs we acceptTrust"The scholarship programs families can pay with, from your settings."
From the shopShopDownloads and videos from your Store, with their prices. How many: 1 to 12. Layouts: Cards or One row. See Sell downloads, videos and bundles in your Store.
Contact detailsInfoYour address, phone, email, hours and social links from Website › Details. Show a map works only when your site shows a street address. Layouts: Side by side or One card.

A section Famlo fills shows nothing on your site while it has nothing to show, such as Next class when every class is full. Your page doesn't get an empty heading.

Sign-up sections

SectionGroupWhat it does, and what you fill in
Contact formSign-ups"A short form that sends a message to your inbox." Families type their first name, email and a message, and it arrives in Messages. You set an intro (300) and Starts the message with (80), so you can tell at a glance what a message is about. See Your team inbox and quick replies.
Email signupSign-ups"A box where families join your mailing list." An intro (300). Layouts: Full-width band or Card. See Your mailing list.

The photo panel

Select a photo on the page, then Crop or Replace, to open the photo panel.

  • Replace with (or Add a photo from): Upload a photo, or pick from Class photos, the photos already on your classes. A class photo is copied onto the page and the class keeps its own.
  • Focus point: drag the dot to the part of the photo that must stay in view when your look crops it ("Drag the dot to keep faces in view"). Arrow keys move it too.
  • Shape on the page: Automatic, Original, 4:5, Square or 3:4. A Text and photo section offers Original, Wide or Square.
  • Frame: Automatic, Tile, Arch, Circle, Blob or None. Cut-out (needs a transparent PNG) lets a photo with a see-through background stand on the page with no tile.
  • Describe the photo: up to 160 characters, read aloud by screen readers. "Leave blank if the photo is only decoration."

Some looks set the shape or frame themselves. The panel then says, for example, "This look sets the shape and frame of this photo."

In a Photo gallery, each photo gets a focus point and a description but no shape or frame of its own. Add photos puts new ones at the end of the gallery, and Remove from gallery takes one out.

Upload limits

WhatTypesSize
PhotosJPEG, PNG or WebPUp to 10 MB
Files in Files to downloadPDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, text, CSV or a photoUp to 10 MB

Famlo removes hidden details such as the location from photos you upload. Photos and files stay out of sight until you publish. On a members-only page, they're sent only to people who can open that page. See Pages, your menu, and who can see each page.

There's no separate photo library. Each photo belongs to the section you added it to.

What isn't offered

Sections keep to plain fields, and your look does the design. On purpose, there's no:

  • custom code, HTML or CSS;
  • choosing fonts or colors for one section (they come from your look; see Your site's look);
  • stock photos or background removal;
  • links set to open in a new tab;
  • video from anywhere other than YouTube or Vimeo.

Troubleshooting

I can't add a second Welcome (hero). Each page takes one. The card shows "One per page — this page already has one." Use Call to action or Text and photo for a second big moment.

A section I added doesn't show on my site. Check two things. Editor changes appear only after you publish. And a section Famlo fills shows nothing while it has nothing to show, for example Testimonials before you've published any to your website.

My video link is refused with "Paste a YouTube or Vimeo link." The section takes YouTube and Vimeo links only. Copy the address from the video's page, like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=…

My photo won't upload. "That photo is bigger than 10 MB." means you need a smaller copy. "That isn't a photo we can use. Choose a JPEG, PNG or WebP photo." means the format isn't accepted. Save the photo as a JPEG and try again.
